The iPhone 5C could be Apple’s next, affordable iPhone? In case you have forgotten, Apple the legendary computer company makes smart phones. Recently the company introduced their sixth generation iPhone, the iPhone 5. Shortly after the launch of the iPhone 5 the rumor mill and speculation began boiling over what Apple would announce next in their phone line up. Most recently details have been emerging that the company would be announcing not one, but two different handsets. One awesomely high end device and one mid range or ‘entry’ level phone. While the verdict is still out the evidence pointing to a mid range iPhone is piling high.

Ah, the legend of the next generation iPhone. Every year around the same time amazingly ludicrous speculation and rumor surround Apple’s next move into the phone space. And why not, the company has had a strangle hold on smart phone users for a while now. Back in April early rumors surrounding the company’s next move suggested that Apple would be launched two different smart phones this year. According to those reports Apple would be set to launch an iPhone 5S and a “cheaper iPhone” in early September. Those details went on to suggest Apple would also be introducing a TD-SCDMA variation of the device and would be launched with the world’s largest mobile carrier, China Mobile in late September or early October. Recently however new details surrounding the ‘other’ new iPhone have surfaced to the headlines. The budget or cheap iPhone 5 is rumored to be built from polycarbonate plastic and come in a multitude of color options. While the rumors surrounding this budget friendly iPhone have been circulating for quite some time now, a new leak gives the handset a name, the iPhone 5C. The picture you see above was published to weiphone.com and claims the box is around 7-8 cm thick and visually is similar to iPod Touch packaging. The C portion of the name however is still up for debate; does it mean cheap or color? Let us know what you think the C means below.
